Anil Sainani is a well-known expert working for evolving unique and customized Governance models for Family Businesses across South Asia. He is a pioneer in the arena of Governance models for inter and intra generation continuity in small and large family business houses since 2004.
Having worked with more than 250 Families across South Asia, Middle East & US, he has developed capabilities and organization for advising on Professionalization and Growth of Family Business, Family Constitution Creation, Coaching and Mentoring and Succession Planning, including creation of Trusts/Wills.
Being a civil servant for over 13 years he developed deep impressions about the constitutional and bureaucratic processes and the ways and means for bringing clarity in defining formal relationships and processes. Before venturing into family governance consulting, Anil gained critical insights of business by working in his own family business for 5 years and helping reach alignment of interests which culminated in his family creating their constitution.
With close to two decades of experience of working with Business families like Godrej, GMR Group, Dalmia Bharat, DCM Shriram, SRF and others, he has distilled his experience to devise a mechanism which enables families to compress the time taken in developing a Family Business Constitution from 2-3 years to 4-6 months. Kellogg School of Management Northwestern University USA and Indian School of Business Hyderabad have made a film on a family business intervention done by Anil which is taught as part of a case study in both these Schools.
Today, he is regarded as a stalwart in solving a few of the most complex issues pertaining to conflicts in business families and strengthening alignment. He is regularly invited by various industry bodies and associations to share his experiences. Anil regularly conduct workshops on Family Businesses for organizations like Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Young Indians Kolkata, Young Presidents Organization (YPO), Entrepreneurs Organization (EO) Delhi, FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), All India Management Association (AIMA), Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) etc.
He has also authored a book “Triumph of Togetherness” which has been endorsed by, among others, Mr. Adi Godrej Chairman Godrej Group, Mr. G M Rao Group Chairman GMR Group, Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal Chairman Hero Group Corporate Services and Prof John L Ward, Clinical Professor, Kellogg School of Management. Anil has done his master’s from IIM Bangalore and a Master’s Degree in Arts. He is a Certified CEO Coach. In addition, he holds a Diploma in Creative Writing in English.
